I am interested in burning dl discs.

Should I go with Plextor dl drive or another one? Which model?

Which software does the most reliable dl copies? (Would it be dvddecryptor or nero? Which version of Nero is necessary for dl copies?)

Are there any guide sites for making dl copies?

    Thanks

Plextor Drives are indeed considered top of the line when it comes to DVD Drives if you have the spare money to spend.
But good alternatives for a little less are BenQ and NEC.

As for burning dual layers, DVD Decrypter is indeed good. But with development of that software halted, as new hit the market, support will be diminished somewhat. But the author of Decrypter has continued the burning side of the software with ImgBurn.
