    Hi all,
Just a couple of quick questions,, I've looked around, but could not find it anywhere else, so here goes.
If I copy a movie, and it plays on my pc, but not on my dvd player,,,
can I copy the non playing dics (copied with CloneDVD ) to my hard drive and then make another copy ( using DVD-Cloner ) that will work in my dvd player ? I ask this because I have copied a movie with CloneDVD, and it will not work in my DVD, but then I tried the same movie ( same type of disc ) with DVD-Cloner and it will work on my DVD player.
I have several movies in this state ( will play on pc but not on DVD player ) and wondering if this will work with them.
    thanks for your help

Ok first, lets find out why some work and some won't.
In CloneDVD, what did you set the burn speed to?

What kind of discs are you burning to? Analysing them with DVD Identifier will give us the manufacturer ID. This will help to determine if you're using quality media or not. Not all blanks are created equal.

    Thanks for the reply Zipp,
K, first , I could not find in CloneDVD anywhere where it gives me an option to select different speeds. ( I know I'm probably more blind that I think, sorry )

Check both of my disc types in dvd identifyier, and they are:

    1. Maxwell by Hitachi
    id: MCL RG03

    2. Package says: RCA
    identifier says: Fujifilm
    id: FUJIFILM03
Are these considered OK disc's ?

The Maxwell is the one that didn't work in CloneDVD, then I tried the RCA/Fujifilm in DVD-Cloner and it works.

Also, Does it say on packages when buying where they are made ?

    Thanks again for your help

Those discs should be ok. I think CloneDVD is set to burn at max by default, so that may contribute.

You didn't mention anything about firmware. Do you know what firmware is? Do you know how to check it?
Firmware is a set of instructions your drive uses to decide how to handle discs it encounters. As newer discs hit the market, the firmware can become outdated since the drive doesn't have the right instructions to handle these newer discs. Which can cause burn failures.
You can figure out your firmware in DVD Identifier by looking here:

For example it lists my drive and then inside the brackets FW=firmware and my firmware is KSOB. So I can go here:
    http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
and look up my drive and see if there's anything newer than KSOB.

OK guys, thanks for the fast responses,,
This may be part of the problem,, I have CloneDVD, not CloneDVD2,,,, looked again to try and fine someway to chance speed in CloneDVD, no luck.

As for the fireware, I looked in DVD identifier like you said and came up with this:

    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4020B [FW A108]

I checked this in the link you gave me, and it said :
    TDK Cyclone/VetoCD 121032 Last updated Apr.14/2003

Thanks again for any help !
