I just bought a pack of Memorex CD-RW and cannot figure out how to burn them. When I attempt to burn through XP or Nero6, it looks like it completes successfully. However, I cannot read them. I get the same results when attempting to burn on 2 different PCs. Both PCs can read CD/DVDs without any problems and burn CD-R and DVDs. This is my first attempt at using rewriteable media. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.
Are you sure that you have CD ReWriter. if you have just a standard Writer then you wont be able to burn to cd rws
SypherTek, wtf??? cd burners or writers do both cdr & cdrw. dvd burners do dvdr(+ or -, drive dependent) & dvdrw plus cdr & cdrw disks.
thats not exactly true is it. because there are cd writers which will not write to cd rws or even read cd rws. most modern drives are capable of reading and writing to cd rws but older ones dont always work. i know this because i have one such drive in an old comp ive got lying around.
Some older CD burner although labeled MultiRead had a need for one to install a UDF Cd Reader driver to be able to read UDF-formatted CD-RW discs done with Roxio or Nero. I dont know if yours is old enough and has that need but it is available here :- http://www.smart-projects.net/recover.htm?http://www.smart-projects.net/udf-reader.htm
Yes it is a CD-RW. I got them to burn in another CD/DVD drive by updating the firmware on that drive... I was having problems burning DL DVDs on that drive...and updating the firmware to burn DL DVDs enabled it to write these CD-RWs. However, I still could not read them on the CD-RW drive. I tried updating the firmware on the other drive and didn't have any luck. Furthermore, after attempting to burn them, it looks like the CD-RWs got completely f@#$ed up. I can't read or erase them. Any ideas?
