all current dvds are dual layer and they can be copied on a blank dvd using dvd decryptor and shrink or some other program

Were you using Shrink or DVD Decrypter to decrypt? The files skipped may have been garbage files.

it was when i was using Decriptor. Last night i used decriptor for first time and it never did that. When i wasted through 4 dvd's I deleted it. I didnt know what I was doing at the time. I was using shrik before decripting. When I did it that way last night I had no errors in decripting

I don't think BB1 had any special copy protections. It's an older title. Is this a new disk or an old one? Is it scratched or dirty?

Try using DVD Shrink to decrypt and see if you still get the error message.

DVD Decrypter is the best program for backing up DL disks bar none. It is also my burning program of choice.

Development of DVD Shrink stopped before development of DVD Decrypter. DVD Shrink was really only capable of overcoming CSS encryption, the original basic one. It is also the only free "shrinker" in existence to my knowledge. As content providers added new forms of copy protection, especially structural protection, DVD Shrink was left behind as a decrypter/ripper since development had ceased. DVD Decrypter continued to be updated and could defeat these schemes. Thus people started using DVD Decrypter to rip their disks and then DVD Shrink to transcode and compress them and, dumping out an iso file for DVD Decrypter ot another program to burn or having Shrink burn itself with Nero or Decrypter.

Also many people use DVD Decrypter to rip an iso file which they then mount with a virtual drive software like Daemon Tools to play on their computers. Different strokes for different folks so to speak. As I first mentioned above, DVD Decrypter is the ripper/burner of choice for backing up DL disks (in conjunction with AnyDVD).

Now development of DVD Decrypter has ceased and a commercial program, AnyDVD, has arrived to take he place of Decrypter as the all-around background decrypter. So people still use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, but with AnyDVD running in the backround. With AnyDVD running in the background, both Shrink and Decrypter see a region-free, unprotected disk.

I hope this clears up the confusion as to why various programs are used..

I'm thinking the problem is with the disk. DVD burners are sensitive to scratches and dirt. Standalone players much less so. Do you have another DVD drive (not burner) on your system you could use to see if that drive can read the disk without error when ripping? If you're in the US search the Walmart bins for a new copy. I saw some last week for $3.99 I think. You could also try IsoBuster but this might be a bit much for a "newbie". :)
