Hello, I am all new to this "Backing" up of DVD's. I have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink 3.2 and my burning program is Nero. Sometimes when I backup a DVD it doesn't work in my dvd player but the region is set right and it says that all the files were copied sucessfully. I was wondering what could be my problem. Any help would be great. Thank you.
Some players do not like certains types of DVD media. The best process is to Booktype your backup to DVD-ROM format. Here is a thread that explains what bitsetting or booktyping is. DVDdecrypter will allow you to set the burner to booktype if your burner allows it. Link: http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php Commercial movies are DVD-ROM format so you would want to format your backups to that format so that they will play in 99.99% of players. Cheers - More questions, post away.
9mmruger1 is corect about dvd-rom being the most compatable format although not all dvdrw drives are capable of doing this and there are more factors to consider. The problem could be related to the quality of media being used and amount of compression. Give us the make and model of your dvdrw drive along with the manufacturer and ID of the media being used. Use dvd identifier http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ to determine manufacturer and ID. Also software used, steps taken, and a nero log would be helpful.
