Hi this is my first post so hello to everyone...

Dowloaded a film from edonkey everything seemed fine, file size was about right 1.14gb, played the file in windows media player and I get a 10 second countdown thingy as if the movie is about to start and then nothing just hazie fuzz which is 5 minutes long. This surely cannot be the whole file.

I put the file through GSpot and it comes with the following advice:

This is a valid AVI file.

The filesize is 1,172 MB (or 1,200,276 KB or 1,229,082,659 bytes).
Of that, roughly 935 MB (80%) is video data; the remaining 237 MB (20%) is audio. This file has 877 MB (or 898,771 KB or 920,341,667 bytes) of extra "garbage" at the end that is not part of the data yet is not marked as "junk" either. This is not usually a serious problem, however, and is unlikely to cause a problem.

It sounds like there is another 877mb of file hidden or locked which I cannot view. Does anyone have any idea on how I can get around this?

    Thanks

    Chris

can you run it through avicodec as you dont mention what type of avi it is.

Also avicodec will tell you want you need to be able to play the file.
