Is it advisable to burn a movie at 8x or 16x with verbatim 16x dvd+r's? I just burned a movie at 8x to test it out, and it burned and played just fine.
Most here will recommend burning at 4X. It really depends on the make and model of your drive. You can use someting like nero disk quality test to check for errors on diffrent burn speeds. Good luck Spacedust
Those are some quality blanks. Mcc-004. In my benq 1640,8x burns test a heck of a lot better than the 4x burns. The 12x burns also scan better than the 4x burns. Use a program like kprobe/dvdinfopro/or nero speed test to see how many of those little errors you get at the different speeds. These quality drives and media will fly!
Anything from 4X - 8X is good, but you must have top notch media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (made in japan), plus your burner's firmware will have to be up to the current. However, I highly recommend to burn at 4X only (this is the best and safest).
Thanks for the input everyone. Forgot to mention that I tried the nero quality test on the verbatim dvd that I burned at 8x with scored 95. I'm assuming that that is a fairly good score.
