I just bought some new Memorex DVD-R 16X blank DVD's and for some reason these are not working. I have always used Memorex DVD-R 8x and it has worked fine. My burner is a 16 X burner, any ideas on what is wrong. I use DVD Decrypter, Shrink, and Nero to write.
How are they not working? Give us some details like failing during lead-in phase/middle of burn/end of burn/won't play in a stand alone player,etc Also check for the latest firmware update for your burner,whatever brand and model# it is. With this newer 16x media,firmware must be updated on older drives.
@titums, sadly you have purchased the dreaded Memorex. These discs cause more failed burns than good ones and are NOT the disc of choice bof AD members. A poor quality dye is used causing many problems, try using Taiyo Yuden , Verbatim almost anything but Memorex
Thanks for the advise, I won't buy Memorex anymore, but my burner is Memorex so I figured it would be a good fit. Shrink encodes my file and then when nero starts to write, it immediately tells me that the burn process has failed. My first observation is that your Nero is way out of date, its up to 18 by now, that is if you are Not using Nero7. I think if you update Nero, change your media and burn at around 4x things may improve. Also you are a little low on memory, make sure you dont multi task whilst burning.
I have no clue how to update my Nero, my Nero came with my burner when I bought it and I installed it on my computer when I bought the burner, Can you tell me how I update it.
You have the latest firmware for your burner. Amd go to http://www/nero.com for an update to your program. You have ver. 6 so get that version update.
Couldn't find any updates on their site: "We currently don’t have any updates available for download. Keep checking back often for new additions to this section."
