Hi all ok i'm completely new to creating dvd's so please go easy on the jargon!! I've got 10 episodes of tv series LOST that are on my pc and i want to burn them onto a dvd! They are all currently in AVI format. I've read some of the user guides but am not so clear how to go about doing the job. From wat i gather this is how i might go about doing it. Get AVI2DVD so i can convert the files. Then after converting them use dvd shrink so i can fit like 4 episodes on 1 dvd of 4.3gb BUT how would i put a menu so that i can choose from the screen that i want to go to episode 3?? After sucessfully shrinking the files then burn them with NERO. I've got version 6.3.1.20 but it only seems to have an option to create a MINI DVD........ I've got no clue honestly wat i'm doing!! I'm using dvd-r.
Firstly the version of Nero is way out of date go here to update http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/nero-up.php
Thanks for the update tip!! Ok so i've started using AVI2DVD now and i'm a little confused by a thing or 2!! Since i want to put say 4 episodes on 1 dvd can i convert all 4 files in one go or do i have to do each 1 individually? Bear in mind i'd like the option on the sreen to choose which episode i want to watch.....
OH MY!!!! It was practically finished converting 1 file and then it did this: [06:23:31] Job NOT Done. There are warnings ... Find at the log file the 0 byte generated file to focus where exactly the problem appears What in the world is???
hi ok i would use TFM = The Film Machine its the same type of app as avi2dvd but it works better! now you say you want a menu? well if it were me i would do separately then load to tmpgenc dvd author to make a basic menu... time span on this is dependent on pc speed... also quick app to convert is divxtodvd... (not sure if new version makes a menu? (ANYONE USE THIS APP LET ME/US KNOW PLEASE!)
the new version or paid one would probably be the go as the free one is starting to lose its edge as some of the codecs required to convert the later avi files is missing and you will a message saying can not decode or find a suitable decoder. once the files are encoded to mpeg2 just run them through tmpgenc dvd author and add your menus til your content before you utilise nero to get it to disc. here's a link to tmpgenc dvd author: http://www.filepedia.com/video_software/dvd-r_tools/tmpgenc_dvd_author.cfm you will also find a basic and advanced tutorial in the guides section of Afterdawn
ok thanks, just wondering now, is it not possible for me me to use this tpmgenc program to do the whole job instead of jumping around like headless chicken using 4 different programs!! By the way where or wat program am i going to use to shrink the files after they have been converted cause they'll certainly never fit on a 4.7gb disc. thanks
Ok yet more confussion!! Its just finished doing its thing now but i dunno what to do next!! the following files and folder have been created: DVD_image.iso winrar archive. When i open it it brings up 2 folders: Audio_ts Video_ts Audio_ts folder is empty Video_ts contains the following files: Video_ts.bup video_ts.ifo vts_01_0.bup vts_01_0.ifo vts_01_0.vob vts_01_1.vob vts_01_2.vob vts_01_3.vob So now where or wat do i do??
burn the video ts folder, and ignor the audio folder use nero burning rom or clonedvd 2(my choice) depending on how big it is,it may want shrinking first,in which case use clonedvd2,it will recode/burn in one click
