I'm gonna need more info, could I have a Nero log? Your latest or whichever one that failed. It should be located under Programfiles/Ahead/Nero/NeroHistory. I will just need the very last section, the sections are separated by this thing:

    ====== *** NeroAPI, History File *** ======

Remember to edit out your serial number at the top which will usually start w/ 1A2 or something.

YOur Nero is out of date, current is 6.6.0.18.

YOur DMA is off, here is how you can fix it:

    http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

YOu aren't using very good media, SOny is fine so long as they are MADE IN JAPAN same goes for FUJI. Verbatim is good as well.

YOu are burning way too fast, I'm surprise the disc doesn't fly outta the drive. 16x is too fast even w/ top of the line media, what you are using is marginal at best. Go no faster than 4x, w/ good media you can experiment w/ 6x maybe 8x.

I think that's Roxio, DL roxiozapper and completly rid your system of it, it conflicts w/ Nero.

But could you explaing your problems better, what do you mean by you can't. Please be more specific. But nevertheless do what I told you to do above, any prob you have should probably be fixed by those instructions.

Try to update to the latest 6.6.0.18

I have no idea, what kind of burner is this - couldn't find it at forum.rpc1. Try to get the latest firmware available for your burner if possible.

One of your DMA needs to be On. Try to troubleshoot as the following.

((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" its driver “for Win XP users” by alkohol))

Here are some helpful pictures for references.

    A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER," left click on "PROPERTIES"

    B) left click on "HARDWARE," left click on "DEVICE MANAGER"

    C) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
    [IMG]

    D) double left click on either “Primary” or “Secondary IDE Channel”

    E) left click on "DRIVER," left click on "UNINSTALL"
You will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system," just click "OK," now "SHUTDOWN" or "Restart" your computer
    F) once you restarted your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner’s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!!

**NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "Uninstall" it from the “DVD/CD-ROM Drives”

    ****at Device Manager****
    (A) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives
    (B) double left click on your DVD burner or your DVD-ROM drive
    (C) click on "DRIVER," "UNINSTALL," "OK" and then "Shutdown" or "Restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!!

What movie are you trying to burn? This doesn't look right, it should read like this, below.

Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB)
Last address to be written: 2253359 (500:44.59, 4401MB)

Looks like your burner doesn't like the media. Possibly a bad disc, try to update your firmware. Even though you're using SONY media, try to get the SONY +R "made in japan" it's more quality. Or try some genuine Yuden, Verbatim and Maxell (made in japan).

What are you doing? I don't even dare to go beyond 8X with top notch media like Yuden, Verbs and Maxell (m.i.j) -- 4X is is the best and safest, it's the most recommendation speeds for burning.

Dump this Roxio program/application. It will only conflicts with your Nero while burning. Go here http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/15199 and download Roxio Zapper to completely wipe out Roxio from your system. Then try to burn again with high quality media like Yuden, Verbs and Maxell (made in japan).

    @GlueEater

I don't think it's BenQ. I've checked rpc forum and Benq listed as Benq. So I don't know what's this Recorder: <ATAPI DVD DD 2X16X4X16> Version: G7Z9.

I don't think Atapi is it's actual name, G7Z9 is a f/w for a BenQ 1620. The latest I see on the rpc site is G7[bold]V[/bold]9. So I think his f/w is pretty up to date.

That is exactly what GlueEater and I suggested. You're welcome -- glad we could help, and comeback whenever you have any new issues.

What I would recommend is wait a month or 2 so Nero has worked out most major bugs, before you buy it.
