ive been using dvdsanta to convert my video files into dvd files and its worked out good for the most part but it takes forever to complete and it slows my comp down to being able to do absolutly nothing but run that program so what im askin is how do i fix this or what software should i get that converts either quickly or conversion that wont kill the rest of my comp. usage

    hi

encoding takes time, fact of life sorry...

I use TFM (the film machine) a totally amazing free app, that uses pro apps to complete its job to dvd from avi, it has its own built in encoders but i use CCE as the encoder part, the quailty is the same on dvd as the avi first put in! yes that good!...

couple clicks and let the sucker ride! go have a sleep or make cup of coffee and chill, its well worth it...

@rotary & andmerr, whenever I burn an AVI file all I do is open NeroVisionExpress3, drag the AVI files into window and then just click next to burn stage, then I sit back and have my cuppa. I have always done it this way and cant understand why others use AVI toDVD etc.

    hi

TFM is very simarlar, i dont use nero visionexpress as the quality isnt good enough for me, about on par with divxtodvd, i have tried many apps for avi and found like dvd shrinking that any apps that use CCE are a beast...

TFM now has DSroba in it (4 passes of CCE in 1 pass)

TheKicb24, maybe you can download a trial version of winavi video converter (http://www.winavi.com/avi-to-dvd.htm)to have a try!

I'm not going to argue with anyone/anybody here, but just so y'all know that you can actually set the settings inside "more" when using Nero Vision 4 on the Video quality to "Highest quality" and "encoding into 2 passes" - these will make your backup looks awesome in result.

Hi Alkohol, how's it going. I am a big fan of NeroVisionExpress however I am still using NVE3, are those settings available on NVE3 and if so where do I find them?

Hi Rotary, thanks for the info, I have downloaded film machine but haven't had a chance to try it yet. I will give you the results when I do so. Cheers. Just went to set up Film machine when I got to page 2 [IMG]

I clicked next and got this

I went to options and then got lost. What do I do here in options?

In addition to Rotary's post, here's the extra steps (which is basically the same as his). I know CCE will probably produce better, but it's taking longer to encode that's all. I'm pretty satisfy with Nero Vision 4 with the settings below.

@Alkohol, thanks for that I have now made those setting adjustments and look forward to some higher quality burns.
PS one day I'm going to learn how to do those red arrows and circles, looks great and makes it easy to follow
