Alrite everyone I think if you use don't use a retail serial (ex. one that's posted on a serial site.) Sorry this sorry's kinda long guys

What does it do? I think it makes your firewall not able to go to the page where you choose which apps gets internet access or not. So far this happens to McAfee firewall. Can someone else confirm.

How did I find this out? Ok this week I came to my cousin's house and I was gonna use his comp to check my email and stuff. later he asked me to help him fix his firewall because he can't access the internet apps list anymore. So I though it must be spyware or virus since he's like a noob who downs a bunch of music and crap with Ares (man I'm so jealous of his super fast comcast cable) So i updated and ran ad-aware, norton, microsoft anti-spyware and nothing came up. I then asked him when he noticed it and he said shortly after he tried opening Nero it says "Licensing Error" (he has the original disc witht the Nero pic but lost his jewel case so I think it's not pirated so its ok to help him) so he tried to open his McAfee to block Nero from the net but the apps won't work. So I check up google and it says to delete the serial from the registry so I did. Afterwards, I tried the McAfee internet apps list and it works again. So I think that if you use a pirated serial it messes up ur firewall. Anyone wanna confirm this?

you do not know what you are talking about firewalls are controled by the user not by priated serial # the firewall does not know the diference between what is legal or illegal

no heres wat I meant in case u don't understand. Well he used a pirate serial for Nero. Nero than said "licensing error" meanining he used a pirate serial for it. It then messed up his firewall internet apps list so he couldn't acess it to block nero from accessing the net so that it can't check if the key is real or not. After I deleted the pirated serial from Nero's registry, the firewall started working again.

The problem may only lie in the fact that he is using McCrappfee.

i've used Mcafee for years at home and work without problems, but i concede there are alternatives out there/different opinions/setups.. I also have a hardware firewall built-in to my router

    However.....

    - i should bloody hope it would cause grief for anyone using pirate serials.

    - it messes up your Moderator's mood. Smack your friend for me.

    - now that's more like it
