Hi, I have a, ATAPI DD 2x16x4x16 DVD burner. I am burning video, roughly 3.7GB movies to 16x DVD+R Infiniti RW disks with Nero Express 6.3.1.23 My computer is fairly new, Athlon 3ghz 64bit, with over a GIG of DRR RAM. When I select 16x & click burn a timer comes up showing ~ 3mins. The disks ALWAYS take longer than this. Rarely half way done before the timer runs out. 6mins if I am very lucky. But 6 mins is ok, I can live with that. But...sometimes up to 30 mins! I have 60 DVDs to burn, it CANNOT take this long. It's as simple as that. The time varies, but all the DVDs are from the same spindle! Why is it taking so long? Could it be processor is getting to hot? it is my burner? is it the media? is it because Jerry Springer is now doing a TV show here in the UK? If it is the media, where can I buy high quality disks that will burn very quickly? I want to burn as fast as possible! Please help! FYI - I have searched the forums but can't find anything specific on this.
Here is an interesting thread on burn speed. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/265933 There are other threads that deal with relative times. Hope this helps. I don't burn that fast.
Myth0logy, I suspect that the times difference is that the burner has to finalize the disk after burning. The blank media you are using is really not that good and I would try Verbatim , Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, Fuji(Japan). If you burn that fast you will probably have problems w/ playback and the disk freezing in the Player. You might try re-booting between burns to clear the cache and see if that helps w/ burning times.
