Nerovision Express 3 Burning Problem

Hey guys, love the site, first time poster. I created a DVD project this morning, and tried to burn it to a disc, but it seemed to be taking forever. I'm using a Sony DRU-800A, with the latest firmware, along with the Nero Suite that came with the drive. I don't know what the problem is, but I'll post the error message that came with it and the notepad file. It only burned a little bit onto the disc, and it was taking over and hour and a half with little progress. In fact, I don't recall seeing the DVD drives busy light turn on once during the process, which seemed weird. I burned a DVD using the Nero ROM just two days ago, and that went fine, took about 12 minutes total. But this is weird. [bold]Any help would be greatly appreciated![/bold]

If it helps, I'm using Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Also, the project I was trying to burn was 4.17 GB, smaller than the capacity of the DVD-5.

 

Thank you so much for your response. The only thing I'm wondering about is the system processes...Nero VisionExpress was the only program running at the time, and I had it set to high priority. When I burn, I usually shut the monitor off and let it work, so I don't know how I could free up more memory because this is the only program running...?

 

Strange. I have 512MB of my normal memory, and then I believe I've allocated a signficant amount of virtual memory as well.

However, I have Norton Internet Security on at all times, though I don't know whether this would use up that much of the system resources.

Any tips on how I can fix that problem and free up the memory for the burning process? Especially since I just end up shutting the screen off and letting the PC burn, I have no need for other programs to be working simultaneously.

Hmm. I burned a copy of my "Scent of a Woman" DVD last nite no problem with Recode. However, I wasn't able to successfully burn a copy of my "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" DVD, it had the following error:

Any idea on what caused the error? The error occurs at the same point during the recode process. The analysis is flawless, but during the recode, something happens. I don't even get to the point of inserting a blank DVD to burn to. The original disc is in pristine collection, I just bought the Trilogy collection the other day and wanted to archive it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Not sure if this is it or not, but my burner did this to me a while back. Check under Device Manager under your IDE Controllers, Advanced Settings and make sure that your burner is in "DMA if available" and not "PIO only". It should also be Ultra DMA Mode 2 or higher. If it is in PIO only and you don't have the option to change it back, you have do uninstall that IDE Controller and reboot windows, maybe twice. After that it will reset your IDE to "DMA if available".

Mmm, yes, I had to solve the PIO issue from the day I installed the DVD-RW drive. It was terribly choppy when playing movies, and I ended up having to go into the BIOS and "turn on" DMA capabilities for the IDE.

But device manager is showing that it is in Ultra DMA Mode 2...:-/

Again, this is the only disc I'm having such issues with (save for the original compilation post, which I think might have been caused by me setting the book-type as DVD-ROM for a DVD-R, which I've learned is a big no-no).
