mpeg 2 format and dvd maestro

#1 11 Mar 2003 @ 14:11
I know this forum is for "backing up" DVD's but i need some help authoring my home movies. I have some flash movies that i have converted into AVI's to use as an intro, pre menue, to my dvd. I have converted the AVI movies to mpg2. Now as i understand an m2v file is just an mpg2 file without the sound, and as such in order to use it in dvd maestro i have renamed it as "intro.m2v" and tried to import it into the asset window. It said it was an invalid file. I also tried importing the file as mpg2 and it gave me the same error. Is there some rules i need to remember while making the avi movies (screen resolution, fps) or while converting them to mpeg 2 to make them viable? i am making them for playback on a PAL system.
Cheers

If you demux the mpeg2 file you will be left with an m2v file.
DVD2AVI can do this but you won't get a sound file out of it I don't think.
Womble will do it and leave you with a sound file as well.

Sorry that's a bit sketchy it's not something I do very often.

You could even try changing the file extension to .VOB and having VOBedtit demux it into an m2v and a wpa file (I have no idea if that would work)
