I have a divx file that I'm trying to load into virtualdub. When I load the file, there is no video, but the sound works just fine.

I am using Divx version 5.01 and Windows XP Pro

    Can anybody help?

It might just be the version 5 of divx. It´s had problems from the start. I haven´t tried the newest version though. Just a thought.

    I had the same problem.
Uninstalled DivX 5 and installed 4.12.
    Now it seems to work.

you all would have been just fine by installing all versions of DivX using the Nimo codec pack.. there is no need to uninstall any version in order to install another.. they will all work fine installed together, but now since you uninstalled version 5, you will not be able to play DivX 5 movies..

Do yourselves this favor, get these codec packs and you should be able to play all DivX movies no problems..

I thought divx 5 was both backwards and forwards compatible?

you would think so, but then why do nimo codec pack and others include all versions if that is the case? and according to polecat, he had to install 4.12 even though he already had 5.01 installed.

Install the divx 311 alpha codec that worked for me, would I be right in saying that virtual dub loads the movie as a black screen??
