Ok, I have a DVR 1640 Philips "Double series" DVD Burner with the "dvd +R DL" symbol on it. And I just bought a Philips DVD+R double layer 8.5 GB Media with the same "dvd +R DL" symbol on it. (2.4x 240 min) I tryed to back up an ISO file of 6,29 GB (movie) on this media with Nero version 6.6.0.18 (latest). CLosing all other Applications! It gave a burning error and failed writing on the media. I tried other softwares as Decrypter, it still didnt work. For your information, I have nero inCD 4.3.21.1 and Nero Digital 3.1.0.0 installed on my computer. And here is the Log I receive after the error. I thank for all the help which will be really appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------ !!!!!!!!LOG: !!!!!!!!!!! xxx 1A20-020E-0000-1349-1210-6697* 1A22-020C-0K30-1726-8320-8652* Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26.10.2004 17:35:34 Nero Version: 6.6.0.18 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 18e (Nero Express) Recorder: <PHILIPS DVDR1640P> Version: P3.6 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <PHILIPS DVDR1640P >Version: P3.6 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.6.0.18 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 === Scsi-Device-Map === CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8526B atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : PHILIPS DVDR1640P atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : ST380817AS atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8526B F: CDRom0 PHILIPS DVDR1640P E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 73400320 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 503MB (515372kB) Free physical memory: 146MB (150416kB) Memory in use : 70 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 7.12.2005 Burn DVD Image 21:42:34 #1 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 2948 PHILIPS DVDR1640P Buffer underrun protection activated 21:42:34 #2 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 21:42:34 #3 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer PHILIPS DVDR1640P running 21:42:34 #4 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 21:42:35 #5 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 4173823 (927:30.73, 8151MB) Last address to be written: 3299564 (733:14.14, 6444MB) 21:42:35 #6 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 21:42:35 #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: PHILIPS DVDR1640P, Media type: DVD+R9 Double Layer Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG, Media Type ID: D01, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 0 21:42:35 #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 448 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 21:42:35 #9 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 838 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (2 - CD-ROM Mode 1, ISO 9660) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 3299565 (3299565) = #3299565/733:14.15 not relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/not required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 3299565 blocks [PHILIPS DVDR1640P] -------------------------------------------------------------- 21:42:35 #10 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 1051 Prepare recorder [PHILIPS DVDR1640P] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; I have heard it reported that InCD is a problem causer. Most here recommend dumping it. You should however be able to use decrypter ISO read and ISO write and do an exact 1:1. Use the mds file to keep the layer break. Here is a guide for doing it: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Copying a Dual Layer DVD in DVD Decrypter.pdf Hope this helps.
Also: You should consider getting better media. CMC is noted for poor quality. Phillips uses CMC. You should free up some system resources and only do burning and nothing else while burning.
Hi there, You are using the latest v6 Nero, and you have the latest firmware on your burner, that is good ! Try to free up some more memory, stop like Antivirus, Spyware Checkers etc... I keep mine running but always burn at 2x ! I bet you this is your problem, those are the worse media on the market ! Several people had issues with Ritek Dual Layer, so I strongly suggest you get some Verbatim DL Media ! You might pay a little more, you will get quality media ! Burning slow, that's the way to go Get rid of InCD, it will cause you problems (Unless you really need it an use it). Good Luck, and happy burning !
thanks to all the posts, they are all very usefull. I guess I will start to try by uninstalling Incd, and free some memories than see to that Decrypter guide, if still needed. ANd last call will be a new Media, but isnt it funny that, u think ure buying the most compatible media for ure burner and u see that in fact, it is a low quality one! confused! thanks again, I am going to check right now.
Hello nomailx I bought the Philips DVDR 1640 and had the same problem. The problem was the Philips double layer disc's as they are CMC very poor quality made. Verbatim disc's work and my friend uses Fuji double layer discs. Philips disc's may work if you buy the one's that are not CMC but you can't know what they are until you bring them home. Hope this helps.
