Ok, I have a DVR 1640 Philips "Double series" DVD Burner with the
"dvd +R DL" symbol on it.

And I just bought a Philips DVD+R double layer 8.5 GB Media with the same "dvd +R DL" symbol on it. (2.4x 240 min)

I tryed to back up an ISO file of 6,29 GB (movie) on this media with Nero version 6.6.0.18 (latest). CLosing all other Applications!

It gave a burning error and failed writing on the media.

I tried other softwares as Decrypter, it still didnt work.

For your information, I have nero inCD 4.3.21.1 and
Nero Digital 3.1.0.0 installed on my computer.

And here is the Log I receive after the error.

I thank for all the help which will be really appreciated.

    Also:

You should consider getting better media. CMC is noted for poor quality. Phillips uses CMC.

You should free up some system resources and only do burning and nothing else while burning.

    Hi there,

You are using the latest v6 Nero, and you have the latest firmware on your burner, that is good !

Try to free up some more memory, stop like Antivirus, Spyware Checkers etc...

I keep mine running but always burn at 2x !

I bet you this is your problem, those are the worse media on the market !

Several people had issues with Ritek Dual Layer, so I strongly suggest you get some Verbatim DL Media !

You might pay a little more, you will get quality media !

Burning slow, that's the way to go :)

Get rid of InCD, it will cause you problems (Unless you really need it an use it).

Good Luck, and happy burning !

thanks to all the posts, they are all very usefull.

I guess I will start to try by uninstalling Incd, and free some memories

than see to that Decrypter guide, if still needed.

ANd last call will be a new Media, but isnt it funny that, u think ure buying the most compatible media for ure burner and u see that in fact, it is a low quality one!

    confused!

thanks again, I am going to check right now.

    Hello nomailx

I bought the Philips DVDR 1640 and had the same problem. The problem was the Philips double layer disc's as they are CMC very poor quality made.
Verbatim disc's work and my friend uses Fuji double layer discs. Philips disc's may work if you buy the one's that are not CMC but you can't know what they are until you bring them home. Hope this helps.
