Hey all, hoping someone can help me on this one, having major probs all of a sudden with burning dvds, keep getting the error:Backup file 'VTS_01_0.BUP' should be identical to 'VTS_01_0.IFO someone said that you just copy one over the other but that dont work, ive also switched from nero 6 to 7 and still get the same thing happening but not every time. My firmware is up to date acocording to rpc1.org, so I'm at a loss so heres the log file if anyone could take a look for me, that would be great:

It won't hurt to free up more memory.

Nero is telling you that it doesn't really like this file "VTS_01_0.BUP", instead it should be something like these "VTS_01_0.IF, VIDEO_TS, VTS_01_0, VTS_02_01, VTS_03_01, VTS_04_0, etc."

Oh God.... noth another CMC MAG newbies here -- you're pretty lucky to have a successfuly burned this time. However, I guarantee you 100% that down the road, you're going to have a tough time playing this DVD. I highly recommend for you to use high quality media like genuine Yuden, Verbatim (Advanced Azo) and Maxell (made in japan).

k, so I have shite media, you live and learn thx! so a couple of questions
    1. why would how much RAM i was using at the time have an effect on the way Nero created the files. to quote:
Nero is telling you that it doesn't really like this file "VTS_01_0.BUP", instead it should be something like these "VTS_01_0.IF, VIDEO_TS, VTS_01_0, VTS_02_01, VTS_03_01, VTS_04_0, etc.".

So why did this happen in the first place? is what I am trying to uncover. Is it a prob with Nero, my dvd rw, the media I am using etc, etc.
All i have found out so far is that my dvd's are rubbish and I need to free up some more RAM! thanks for the contribution but I need more if possible, Cheers again in advance for any input guys.

    From the Nero site:
It looks, from the information above, that the error occurs in the ripping stage.
What is used to rip the files?

It was a n xvid file transcoded using vision express to dvd then burnt using the "burn image to disk" option within nero. Also as an update i have run the Nero clean tool, deleted all files from my prg files
and looked in the registry but cant find nero in there after the clean tool was ran, and ive reinstalled nero 6 as a precautionary measure, will this help? I also disabled Norton during the reinstall of Nero 6. Hopefully i'll buy some Taiyo Yuden media, but ive just bought a 50 spindle of these disks that i were told are crap.

Seems to me that you may get more help in the XVID forum if the error is occuring with XVID files during the encoding process.
What I read is that non-compliance is typically when the the DVD files are created and a BUP file is not an exact copy of the IFO file and the solution is to make a copy of the IFO and rename it BUP, thus replacing the BUP with a duplicate.
As to the supposed crappy nature of your disks, while these comments about CMC are endemic to this forum, some people swear by them as opposed to at them.
I haven't tried them - so no opinion, but they might be quite adequate for data disks and since TY disks are sometimes hard to find, except through mail order, Verbatim might be easier to pick up.

Thx but cant see that the Xvid forum can help me too much as this has also happened whilst encodong a previous file, so I dont think It can be a prob with the file itself. Can anyone else shed any light on the problems I am experiencing?
