Problem with bundled Nero software

I burn a lot of CDs (data and music)and added a second writer to my computer. Both writers (Yamaha CRW-F1 and LG GCE-8520B) included Nero, but the bundled versions are dedicated and will not combine, they simply write over one another during installation (the Yamaha has 'Burning Rom' and LG has 'Express'). This is a annoying because both writers utilise the (so far Nero-only?)Master QR mode, but bundled Nero does not allow multiple writers. This means I can only use one of these recorders for writing, but not both. I'm not really interested in buying another burning program, either. Does anybody know of a way around this?

Try uninstalling, then just reinstall Nero (burning rom) and see if you have any conflicts. There have been reported bugs with the Nero, Nero Express packages in the past.

Thanks for the reply, Shoey. In the end I simply uninstalled Nero altogether, cleaned the registry, then reinstalled the Yamaha's version. I updated to 5.5.10.15 through the Ahead site, after which Express appeared in my start menu. It recognises both writers, though it's not LG optimised. I was dreaming about the LG having the Audio QR function, though it does have full CAV and optimum write control like the Yamaha. These features aren't recognised in Express (neither is the 52x write-speed) but it's a small price to pay.

yqw m8. Any chance your using Nero to burn audio? What burner are you using to burn audio? Just curious...

The Yamaha is for burning audio. I only got the LG last week - this is intended for data as I do a lot of file-sharing. It's working well so far but is a bit shakey with overburning. I also use Feurio.

Pre-CRW F1, I used ECDC 3 & 4. Now it's just Nero for data. I thought the Nero interface looked confusing on others' machines until I got it myself.

I have tried this program, but neither writer was able to report errors. I'm not an expert so feel free to point me to a page or article which explains how to enable this. My souncard (Creamware's Tripleboard II) does not accept CD inputs so I was thinking of getting another card and maybe mapping the CDs through that, if it would make any difference. For ripping, I've always used Windac, dBPower Amp and CDDAE. Admittedly I hadn't noticed that EAC had a burning function, but if you think it's at least an A1 ripper, I'll give it another go.

    Shoey,

I doubt that one can use Yamaha Audio Master if burning with EAC?

I'm not referring to Yamy audio master. I'm simply referring to the Yamaha drive itself. If the Yamy audio master is similiar to EAC, then use that program.

I have just discovered that if I open 'Express' first, I can select the LG drive, hit the Nero button, then fully configure and write within 'Burning Rom' with full x52 writespeed or lower. Seems I now have full functionality of both drives within Nero and I hope this is of use to someone in a similar fix. Thanks for the response.
