what are you doing when you attempt to burn as your free physical memory is pretty low what are your pc stats?
I am doing absolutely nothing except running nero. I even shut down everything in the background that I could. I dont know why it is so low.
when i asked for your pc stats, i meant all of them this doesnt tell me anything except you have the capability to maybe reproduce a dvd. What operating system? what media? what applications do you have installed? what hard ware?
oops. Sorry. Well it says Windows XP at the top of the log. Im using Phillips DVD+R 8x 4.7 What applications do you mean? I dont have Roxio. Everything else it turned off including norton and everything else. All I am running is Nero 6. I did have Nero 7 and the same thing was happening. The burner is a NEC DVD RW ND 2500A USB.
is this the recode version.I have pm'd creaky to have a look at your nero log.I have to go out for a bit but if the problem that you cant burn is still happening in a couple of hours we will start from scratch and see what happens. Are these dvds youi are attempting to burn? or files you have converted to mpeg2?
can you download dvd shrink and also the trial version of slysofts anydvd. another one is the trial version of clonedvd. all these can be found still at : http://www.filepedia.com/ be back later, just got to go and celebrate the bthday party they organised for me.See you in about 4 hours. andmerr
Yeah I know how to burn DVDs... it just wont burn them. I have burned plenty of DVDs until recently it stopped working. I use DVD Shrink AnyDVD and Nero. Sorry I didnt say that before. I have everything good as far as getting the data goes. I just cant get my blasted thing to burn. Happy birthday to you as well. =) And thanks for messaging creaky for me. I hope I hear from him.
In the meantime search for enditall2 and run it right before burn. It may close some background processes you are not.
hi.. - firmware is up to date, however the blank discs you're using aren't being recognised, see further down my comments - that question mark's ok, looks like your burner is external to the PC - you still need to close down more programs prior to dvd work/burning to free up more memory - hmm, i've never used this before.. - the blank discs you're using aren't being recognised, here's an example (not the best example as it's CMC ie crap media but it's an example) of what it should look like. if firmware is up to date you'd have a 3line paragraph here like this - - even though your burner's not recognising the discs, we can use a free program such as dvd identifier to at least find out what exact discs you have there. download from here - http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_identifier.cfm and use it to 'identify' one of those discs and paste results here. So basically the firmware's up to date (maybe too old though), and either way the discs you're using are newer than your burner knows what to do with, so you may need to buy 'older' discs that are catered for on the firmware. You discs may be too 'new' for the firmware or it could be that the manufacturer has given up on updating the firmware; happens a lot with drives, they keep pushing out new drives and the firmware for older models gets left behind..
@ creaky, whompus, and andmerr and everyone else who has been kind enough to help me. I ran enditall2 like whompus suggested and my burner works again. I am not sure if it is the fact that I have less things running or one of the progs that it shut down was interferring. Thanks to everyone because I am sure the combination of everything helped. @creaky, thanks for your extensive wisdom. The virus scan thing is something that nero will do if you check for it to do it. I did just to see if it would make a difference. It doesnt hinder burning. And the firmware is up to date I just updated. As for the media. I could prlly get something better. I am using Phillips DVD+R. Thanks again.
god i get back 4 hours later and the problems solved.........thanks guys for helping deliriumx: (on a side note i had a very enjoyable evening)
haha what did you end up doing andmerr? and sorry you didnt get to help more. I can tell you love to do it. haha
