I'm looking for a DVD Burner. Can anyone reccommend one. What should I look for, i.e. formats/speeds etc..Tks
All my burners are BENQ. Never had any problems to date. I recently picked up the BENQ 1625 with LightScribe, and is "Booktype-able", as well as +r and -r. I am very happy with this brand. I have also learned that Verbatim Disc's are very good to me. But really there are alot of very good burners. With a little searching through this forum, you will find different people have different preferences. Good luck, JBurden
If you want a dvd-rw drive that: Burns over 99% success rate Backups that play in over 95% of stand alones/game consoles/and pc drives Overburn protection Booktyping capabilities on plus format media Burn a boatload of backups. On the fly rip and burn. Excellent reader as well. Get the Ben-Q 1640. Excellent drive for under $40. Stick with the plus format and booktype them to dvd-rom using the q-suite utility.Benq are quality drives, having 3 in operation now-My backups will play virtually anywhere I want them to.After booktyping the plus format to dvd-rom,those stand alones will be able to recognize your backups.Should be no need to buy the dash format because it is less compatable than the booktyped backups.
