I have a Sony Handycam and I am trying to get the video from the tape to a DVD.
My computer doesn't have a IEEE 1394 port. I know this is something I should know... but is that something that I can buy and add to my computer? Or is there another way to transfer the data? I have USB ports but no firewire ports. Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to help a very frustrated person.
    Thanks

The video camera has a firewire port (little tiny thing)
It is looking like I just need to add the Firewire PCI card to my computer. I found one on Newegg for $11.00 and that includes the cord.
The paper work with the Handycam says it is a 4-pin.
Ugh! Nothing is ever simple.. :)

Thanks, I double checked and it is an i.link...which is the same as a firewire, right?
I suppose I will just order it since I live in a small town and I am sure our local computer store probably doesn't stock them as cheap. Thanks for your help.... what a great site to stumble across...
