your Xbox 360 is overheating and therefore not going to work properly
to fix, either remove the HDD, or put in a very cool place.
if this doesn't work call MS

the blinking red lights mean it was a hardware failure due to overheating.
to fix either remove the Hard Disk Drive, Keep in a cool place away from any "Heat Source" this maens the tv, or call microsoft.
all this info is on http://www.xbox.com/support

Lock up or freezes dont neccesarily mean overheating I use mine in a basement that is cold mostly all the time. I have the problem on mine and it went to MS today. There were no red flashing lights etc just froze. Secondly I was getting errors later on about dvd from the wrong region. It progrssivly got worse and I still did not see any changes to the leds. I have marked almost all components on mine and will see what was changed when it comes back as well as documented all part serial numbers.

Finally got it back today. A new or maybe a refurbed PRO console. Different serial number and all, as well the DVD is different as it has a silver cover on it. Anyone else send in for repair a Core pack white DVD in the front and when got it back has a silver DVD plate ?
