I have a crossover to my xbox and to my PC and i have my modem connected to my pc. before i hit bridge connections, it says 'low connectivity' . after i bridge connections, it simply wont sign on. I am told this is because my computer has to have a static IP assigned to it. I have comcast cable internet, which uses rotating IPs, so im assuming static just means my IP stays the same. (it doesnt). Ive read everything i can find and i must have missed how to assign the static IP . i'd appreciate if someone helped me out
This is a very simple process that seems to cause a lot of issues. First off, you need to set your Static IP on your PC. Now if you have dual LAN connections on your PC or more just keep in mind, the only one that needs to be set is the one that holds the line going to your xbox. How do you set-up a static IP on that connection? Folow this link: http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm Select your Operationg System and follow the screenshots. Once done, you will need to assign a static ip for your xbox as well. When you're done, between the two the only setting that should be different is the actual IP address. The Gateway & Subnet Mask should be the same on both your XBOX and PC LAN connection. DNSs can be input but not necessary unless you want to go inline. I say input them...it won't hurt.
