I just recently purchased a plextor px-716sa serial-ata interface dvd-r/rw. The problem is.. there is no system Aspi installed.. and after reading through some threads it seems as though NO ONE is using Windows Xp64bit. Each thread i read states to use ForceAspi. Evertime i try to use the ForceAspi it states exactly:

    Inst ASPI 1.7

    Windows NT or 2000 Detected.
    Windows is in : C:\WINDOWS
    Alpha CPU Detected.
Sorry, only Intel x86 and compatible platforms are supported.
    Press any key to continue...
    -------------------------------------

Then i hit any key, and the window just dissapears. I even tried to DumpAspi. But still says that it wont work with my setup....

So is there or is there NOT any Aspi layers for Windows Xp Pro 64bit Ed.??? If there IS, please..please.. point me in the right direction.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanx for takin time to read this.

Nero uses it's own ASPI layer, are you having trouble with it's ASPI layer OR are you just wanting to install a.n.other ASPI layer ?

....so please can you explain your solution 'cause i've got the same problem with x64 and the Plextor 716A, that will not accept the conventional ASPI Layer.
    Thanks a lot

i use nero 7 Premium, and it has its own aspi layers. There is a system aspi and a nero aspi... use the NERO ASPI for it to work. Start>Programs>Nero 7 Premium>Nero Info Tool and change it in the ASPI tab...
