   Can you make an exact backup of a dual layer movie with them. If so what software would I use?

   There is no such thing as a dual layer original, I assume you mean DVD9. But yes you can all you need is NEro, but I would recommend DVDDecrypter or IMG burn to do the actual writing. It would be 1:1 movie.
