That is good but now all computers come with those things ,If you want to stand out get a P4 3.4 GHz, 2 gigs or ram, and a Lite Scribe Dual layer burner

go with a 775 socket board & cpu as 478 is being or is discontinued. other possibility is go with an amd cpu & socket 939 board.

I would go with an AMD 64 and a Socket 939 Mobo,I belive that AMD processors are just better than Intel and the 939 Mobo will allow for further upgrades in the future.

Dont laugh, check out the specs. ati mobo, dual density, 1 gig, blah, blah.

    http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16817153023

You will need a new psu, as the original 300 watt wont power a good graphics card.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102543

I actually bought this card for $240.00 at best buys. 16 pipes cant be wrong.

This is not a wish system, it is the system i just bought for my son. It loads BF2 maps a minimum of 45 seconds faster then my p4 3.0c oc'ed @ 3.5ghz.

So there you have it. A simple build that just requires you to swap out a power supply (psu), clean out the on board vid drivers, and install the new vid card using latest drivers available from ati.com. You dont even have to go into bios to disable the on board vid card, ati does that for you. It just cant get any simpler withou spending more money

    All for under $900.00

    Sorry Jeanc1 about that...

Wetchaser, i think i'd rather go with your p4 3.0ghz. the one you suggested is only 2.2ghz. i don't know if it's meant to be that way.
Would it be better if I just bought all the parts separately off of neweggs.com?

You are talking exactly as i was before my friends talked me into buying this puter for my son. Dude take a leap of faith. I wouldnt stear you wrong man. Were my computer will get the stutters in serious graphical equations, his just flows oh so smooth. The ghz thing is all hype. The best part about his computer is its totally upgradable. Right now it has a ide drive in it, but the mobo has 4 sata connectors just waiting for drives to be plugged in. It comes with a gig of ram, but will hold up to 4 gig. This is an entry level computer with some serious punch. ATI may not be recognized as a leader in the mobo field, but they sure aint making no junk.Untill a month ago, e-machine was definatly the bottom feader in computers imo. God i never thought i would be trying to talk someone "into" buying an e-machine. The following is my system specs, and i reformatted less then a month ago, so its working with a fresh install on a pair of raid enabled 120 gig drives. It can not hold a candle to that lowly e-machine.

    LanParty PRO875B rev. B
    P4 soc 478 3.0C @3.5ghz un-crashable
    Fourtron 530 watt psu
    XP pro
    G.Skill 512x2 DDR PC-4400 2.5-4-4-8
    2-120gig harddrives raid 0-1
    SB Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
    Ati X850xt Platinum
    Thermaltake case
    Bios is 9/13/2004

hmmm...i'll do some more research...it's still 900$...that's still money. I'm gonna make sure it's gonna be worth while. so if you had a 900$ budget and were gonna build a new computer from scratch you'd still buy that? Or what parts would you buy?

If you feel you can build it cheaper then go for it man, im just so f'ing impressed with that AMD is the main jist here. I have already decided that this machine is going to be a server, and my next great creation will be an AMD. I guess im gonna have a agp x850xt platnium for sale soon...hmm I have around $1600.00 in this rig including case.

p.s. im really in no rush to build a new system till sli. gpu. and dual cpu. really show some muscle for the money you spend. i feel this is the next big step for pc's

The best computer on a budget i can think of would cost about 3000$. Here are the parts and the estimated prices.

AMD FX57... always get the AMD FX series for its power the whopping 1250$!

RAID 120gbs duel... this is for the games, always have alot of space
    250$
2gbs of mushkin memory... the top rated gaming memory 300$

16x duel layer Lite-on disk drives... very fast and reliable 75$

ASUS SLI premium... you can add almost anything to this whenever 200$

nVidia 6800 ultra... get the best one in each series because the 8800 is-a-comin 400$

Creative X-Fi series sound card... 300$

And any good 600 watt power supplie for future SLI

    Please update me for prices.

that site seems like an overpriced site...anyways how do you know what to look for when you buy each parts? (Motherboard, CPU, RAM, Video Card, Sound Card, etc.) I don't get it; i'm don't know much about computer hardware...
