    Hi,
I am having terrible problems while playing back video files. Whichever file type I play, Mpeg, Avi, DivX, or Xvid, I get really bad crackling on the audio. The picture is perfect and there is no sync problem. I have tried numerous combinations of Codecs and various different players.
I thought at first that it was my soundcard
but MP3 and WAV audio files play perfectly ( and, strangely, so do WMV video files).
I installed NIMO CODEC PACK V 5.0 BUILD 7 (not a good idea, looking back). I have also tried removing all codecs that where not installed originally with Windows. Nothing I do seems to make any difference, apart from stopping the files playing at all.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

    System Spec:
    866MHz P3
    512Mb Ram
    Windows XP Pro
    SoundBlaster Live!
    ATI Radeon 9000 64Mb
    Lite-on 48125s CDRW
    Pioneer DVR-104 DVD-RW
    All drivers up to date.

make sure you don't have any IRQ conflicts.
