    Hi all

My first post here and wanted to see what can be done. I am working on a computer with an ECS EliteGroup motherboard, P6VXM2 Rev. 1.0 and I get this when attempting to boot up, which never happens:
    Award BootBlock Bios v1.0
    BIOS ROM checksum error.

Now I did find in a past posting here on the same exact thing but I however am having problems with getting the right Flash files to use. The ones I have are: awd822a.exe and tried several versions of this one: P6VXM210a.bin, P6VXM210b.bin. Still I followed the instructions posted here and on the EliteGroup website and it didn't work. Stated was to insert the floppy after booting to the error and type this:
A:\awd822a p6vxm210a.bin and it should work. However, I got this error message: Flash Type - Unknown Flash. What would be the correct Flash Type? Really wish someone could help me out on this one.

    thank you,
    Bud :)

The bios checksum error means that your BIOS chip and/or other hardware is physically bad or that you have a corrupt or bad code in the bios rom. Re-flashing your BIOS should fix this problem.

The unknown flash type error is a type of proection to prevent accidental flashing of your BIOS...so disable that sucker either in the CMOS or with jumpers on your motherboard.

I also noticed that you're using the awd822a flashing utility....and there seems to be a newer version out "awd860b" and a newer version bios "p6vxm210e.exe". Put those on a MS-DOS floppy and then try "A:\awd860b p6vxm210e.exe"

    Get both from herehttp://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWeb/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?DetailID=127&DetailName=BIOS&DetailDesc=P6VXM2(1.0)&MenuID=0&LanID=9
    (the second box)

a:awd860b xm210f.bin enter. it will ask you if want to save old version & say no. than will ask you if want to program bios & say yes. do exactly as it says or can end up scrapping the motherboard.

i too had the same problem ( award biosbootlock v 1.0....) and i haven't done anything yet since i fear that i might screw my mainboard up.the weird thing is that after a few attempts, booting goes to normal. anyway, i'm posting this thread since i still am in the dark here. hope you guys could help me. here are a few specs that i think might be of good info...

    motherboard ID:02/06/2003-8363-686B-6A6LMPACC-00 for KT-133E/A K7 chipset support

if you could also help me find the proper .bin file for my board, it would be a huge help. hope to hear from you soon. thanks guys...
