I have a Sony dru-710a burner and nero 6. I have tried burning dual layer dvds with both dvd shrink 3.2 and with Dvdfab express. So far all I have got is coasters. When I start to burn everything starts fine but at some point in the burning process everything freezes and stops the burn. The light on my burner keeps blinking like it is still burning but nothing happens(I have left that way over night). I have since tried burning smaller dvds on a single layer disc and it worked perfect. I have downloaded what I think is the newest firmware for my burner and still no luck. Any suggestions? I would really apreciate it. Thanks
I dont know too much about the Sony burner but my first question is, is it a Dual Layer burner? also the latest Nero is 6.6.0.18, are you using this version? For your lastest firmware go to this link http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces It seems I have answered my own first question, it is a D/L burner.
Try using ImgBurn, which is an updated ver. of the DVD Decrypter burning engine. You can get it here http://www.imgburn.com Then use iso read mode, open your MDS file and the iso write mode. Best program I found for burning DL's. Got coasters myself with Nero too.
What kind of media are you using??? Does your burner recognize any discs that are put in it. I have a DRX-710UL burner and it went on the frizz a couple of weeks ago. I got a Pioneer on sale and ran it with Nero and haven't had no problems. That includes DL discs. With my Sony it wouldn't recognize DVD-DL but would DVD+Rs. Try uninstalling the drivers and reboot and let windows find the burner and see if that works. Or maybe it's Sony getting us back for their XCP rootkit problem.
