I am making a compilation DVD of TV episodes. I ripped each episode using DVD Decrypter, the added the resulting VOB file into the Nero program. Most episodes loaded fine, but one will not. Each time I add the VOB file, this error comes up:

The instruction at "0x006b6c44" referenced memory at "0x013b3890". The memory could not be "read".

I have tried DVD decrypter in all formats (File, IFO), DVD Shrink, Smart Ripper, and splitting and joining the files. Nothing works. Please help.

p.s. maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I am aware that the above error message is fairly common. I have searched. However, none of the fixes have worked for me, including all XP, Nero, and DVD updates and/or patches. Thanks again!

It's a lot easier if you make a complete compilation using DVD Shrink. Use Shrink in the Reauthor mode, use the Set Start/End Frames feature to cut each episode from the DVD. Rip each episode to a separate folder. Once that's done, open each folder with the DVD Browser and add it to the Re-Authored DVD section on the left. Back your compilation up to another folder and then burn.

I made a small animated guide that explains this in more detail.

This is how I do compilations. I don't know if this will get you past the error message or not. I know that Shrink compilations work at times when adding VOBs to NVE will not. It may be worth a try if you have not done so already.

Do you get any errors while ripping the original?
