Help for LG Burner DVD+R Book Type to DVD-ROM???

    Hello,
    I've got an LG GSA-4167B DVD Burner with firmware DL11(by checking info screens). I've been having success burning +R discs at 4X with DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero 6.6. On Shrink, my "Change book-type to DVD-ROM" option is grayed out. And I can't get the option for book-type settings to come up in either Nero burning ROM or Express. Does my LG burner even support changing book-type? Is there another firmware I should use? Will I be able to change it by using a program like DVD BitSetter? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    Interesting....And I've looked at some of the burning guides posted here with their screen captures of the Nero burning log, where it says:
    "Caching of files completed..."
    "Burn process started at 4X speed..."
    "Book Type set to DVD-ROM..." **
    Using Shrink/Nero combo OR just Nero, mine screen doesn't show the "Book Type set" line ** AND the Shrink book-type option is greyed out... Does this just mean that this new LG drive is automatically burning to book-type? I'm just itching to have mine visually show that it's burning at "book-type DVD-ROM". And is there a scan disc function in Nero that will display the burned disc's type to check for sure? I'm most definitely a newbie at this...Thanks, again for any help...

    dvdinfo pro can booktype a drive and also check dvd-rom...

    You can always check a burn that you have already done with this drive too. Use DVDidentifier or DVDinfoPro. If you have DVDdecrypter it will show you the booktype as well.

    i've got one of these drives (the firmware's up to DL12 now by the way)

    and i set my booktyping via Nero Burning Rom like this - 'recorder/choose recorder/options' and mine's set to auto so it doesn't moan about -R discs, works like a charm

    Thanks guys for the help. I used Decrypter to burn to book-type, and it says "DVD-ROM" under the Physical Format Info part...So it looks good...I use Shrink to encode, so I can just burn with Decrypter ISO from now on...I might try Nero again sometime, but everything seems to work for now. Thanks, again....
