    Hello.

After sorting out some frustrating faulty hardware issues I am up and "backing up" my DVDs.

I am for the most part just doing one to one copies using dual layer media. I have only had a couple of coasters so far (knock on wood). I am using DVD Decrypter to rip and burn.

I recently had issues with "Hitch" and read that I could disable ANYDVD from running in the background to overcome the problem. It appeared to turn out fine.

My question is this: Why does one even need ANYDVD at all? Do you only require the program if you are using shrink or a similar program to compress the DVD?

    Thanks,

    Dwight

hitch is one of the last sony movies that decrypter will do. anydvd runs in the background to break encryption. this allows alot of apps to copy movies. and anydvd is still updated so it will break the newer protections.im not on my pc right now (power supply went out)so i cant pull up the link right now. but there is a guide that tells u how to let anydvd brak protection when using dvddecrypter. i think its scuba petes guide but im not really sure.check under my sig.

So are you saying that DVD Decrypter wouldn't be able to decode and burn a DVD without ANYDVD running in the background? I have done a few DVDs without ANYDVD running in the background.

    Thanks,

    Dwight

Some of the newest movies dont have any special protect so they dont need anydvd but more and more do need it. Bottom line even if you dont need it just let it run in the background then your covered for 99.99% of all movies out there.

anydvd and clone2 are the way to go for the newer protections. or u could try dvdfab express. they both have a trial period, that way u can see which one u like best.there are other ways to copy the new protections with dvddecrypter, i think there is a sticky here at ad that explains it. i sure will be glad when my new power supply comes in. this sucks using my daughters pc, i dont have access to my saved files. look around im sure its here at ad. the cheapest way to go is dvdfabdecrypter and shrink, this combo will do most movies out there. u will need nero or dvddecrypter for burn engine.
