This is the last post I'm going to make for help and I will post everything here. In this situation I used VSO divxtodvd 0.5 freeware edition. It took a while, but it converted the avi to dvd just fine. When I looked in the VIDEO_TS folder and clicked on one of the vob files, it opened up in powerdvd and it opened up and just went through the whole movie skipping chapters by itself. So it opens up and just automatically goes through all the chapters from start to finish.. You can't touch anything to make it stop. So I ignore that and recode it and burn it in Nero 7 trial edition. If anyone wants to see the log file you can, but their was not a single error. So with the burnt disc, I load it into my dvd drive and guess what? It does the same thing that it did before I recoded it and burnt it. Leaving me with one useless disc, and a whole load of time wasted. Does anyone have a solution for this. And yes I downloaded the avi file. EDIT: When I insert the burnt disc and click on the dvd drive icon in MY COMPUTER, it plays fine in windows media player and the audio is fine. When I open it in power dvd, all it does it skip chapters through the whole movie.
As you have used DivxToDVD you could try again by burning with CopyToDVD which is also made by VSO and is normaly used with DivxToDVD. I'm afraid that is what you get when you download movies, some have foreign subtitles so you just have to wear it.
i used divxtodvd for awhile. i started getting alot of flicks that ended up being real small and in the middle of the screen. i started using nero vision express 3 and i havent had this problem since. im not sure about the skipping thing but its worth a try.
Thanks I'll give express a go to. I'm willing to try anything at this point. I'm almost done my copytodvd test And I'll let you guys know my results
*Sighs* Didn't work.. after I burn the video_ts folder in copytodvd, I stick it in my dvd drive open it and power dvd and... An object or name was not found. Am I missing some file or something? Please tell me what this means.
I have loads of downloaded movies and I use divxtodvd freeware and don't have many problems at all. Sometimes the audio has a slight delay against the picture but I think that's the way it was uploaded. Gloomer, after downloading the film, convert with divxtodvd. If you don't already have dvd shrink then I suggest you download it now! Open up dvd shrink, go to "open files" at the top and then navigate to where you have your converted movie. Select it and then hit "ok". Then "main movie, extra's" should come up. Highlight main movie only( better for picture quality) and just hit "back up" which is at the top of the screen. It should encode the movie for a few minutes, then prompt you to enter a blank disc into your destination drive. After you do that, it should start burning. Then 15-20 mins later you should have a pretty good quality dvd. Happy burning
If you have something other than power dvd use it instead. Open it with windows media player instead. If I'm watching on my pc I use windows media player. I wouldn't touch power dvd to be quite honest but everyone to themselves.
I don't know yet. I'm gonna have to wait 40 more min to see. Nero vision express 3 is taking a while.. But I don't care. As long as I get my dvd
Nope didn't work... I stuck the burnt disc in my computer... worked fine... Stuck it in my dvd player (which is canadian) And not only did the screen shake so you could not see anything, but there was no color either. HALP MEH!
I think that is partly the fault of the avi. I might have to rent all the dvd's I want to rip, As that works fine for me.. I'm just trying to get it so I don't have to spend 5 bucks every dvd..
lets go back a couple of steps; 1st we need to know what pc you have and the stats? 2ndly whats the operating system 3rdly whats the software and version numbers? and the list goes on. Its very hard to say it could be this or that or even try this as no one here has the overall picture as you havent provided much info. Posting the nero log would be of great benefit at least then we are going to get an idea of what the burning engine is doing and if its having issues.
If the burnt copy is workin fine in your pc and not in your dvd player then I'd say it's possible your player isn't supporting the type of disc your using! I use LOGIK disc's which work fine in my player and they also work in a lot of my mates players but not them all. And also the LOGIK disc's wont work in my kids ps2. That's why I'm thinkin of changing myself. So maybe you should try changin disc's for awhile. I have to say I've never had any probs like that, sayin that my dvd player doesn't support svcd's and that bugged me for awhile.
