I just reformatted my computer twice to make sure this was the program that was causing the problem. I tried to install Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas and it couldn't find the Audio\Streams\ directory. Turns out it's empty. However, before I install Nero 7, The Audio\Streams directory is full of the radio files needed to install the extra audio in the game. Now this game is on a DVD and it's a retail version, I did buy it. Just so no one thinks it's some burning error. It's just very odd that those files disappear only when Nero 7 is installed. Also, the game will no longer run for some reason and I believe it's all tied into Nero 7. Is there some setting Nero 7 does to make it so that my GTA doesn't work properly? One thing I am going to try is to uninstall InCD and see if that fixes anything. If it does, then I've narrowed it down but I doubt that will change anything. Here's hoping. Anyone run into this problem before?
Well, I can't believe it. It's InCD that when installed, I can't see those files in GTA SA. Now, I either need to know why that's going on by investigating more unless someone here has a reason why this is happening Or I go and find a new Packet writing program. Now that's going to be a task.
Why bother with packet writing? Have you not learned your lesson from all this? It's just not needed.
@PitbulI What exactly are you tring to do? I thought GTA: SA is a PS2 game? I backup this game successfully via Nero Express and "book typed" it as DVD-ROM using top notch YUDEN media. My son loves the game dearly -- it plays flawlessly on my v9 PS2 console. But the more I read, the more I get confused, so are you trying to install GTA:SA (a pc game) on your system and you were having some audio issues? Or are you trying to backup GTA:SA with Nero 7? On the other hand, I doubt that it's Nero 7 that's causing your game to function improperly. Again, I completely agree with the above mentioned in query to InCD, you need to dump that horrible application, it doesn't get along well with Nero at all. Just a side note here, I've been using Nero 7 Premium since late October until now (7.0.1.4) and I've never experienced any issues whatsoever (ie burning dvds, burning audio cds, encoding/transcoding, converting AVI into DVD, watching dvds via Nero ShowTime, etc.)
I own GTA SA and while installing it with InCD installed, it doesn't see the files in the Audio\Streams directory on the DVD but with it uninstalled, it sees the files. It's odd. I'm not burning it or anything, I was just trying to install and play it. It's odd also that if I install without the audio files the game crashes so I uninstalled InCD, installed GTA SA, then reinstalled InCD and the game works. It's just that I want DVD-RW writing software and I was sick of DirectCD/Drag to Disc. How would I backup to a DVDRW without InCD installed? Use some unknown prog or something?
If you mean backup a disk or whatever incd is not being used in the first place. If you are meaning for instance when you write a letter or whatever in word for instance and want to save to the disk then it is being used. That is what drive letter access does (dla, incd, drag to disk or whatever) its not a great option simply because of the diferance from system to system. You might get a lot of stuff saved on the disk with it and later (for whatever change in system) not be able to access it.
Again, so is this a PS2 DVD game or PC game that you're trying to install on your system? I'm not exactly sure of what you're trying to do, but here's a few basic steps on how to backup PS2 games using DVD Decrypter: - put original game into dvd-rom drive or dvd burner - open up DVD Decrypter - select "source" <-- where the original game is located - seletc "destination" <-- to your hard drive (make good note of that) - MODE, ISO, Read R - click on DECRYPT (now sit back and relax until it's completed) - put high quality media into dvd burner (Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Maxell "Hitachi Corp. - made in japan" - MODE, ISO, Write - select "source" <-- choose the MDS file from your hard drive that was ripped earlier - select "destination" <-- to your dvd burner - choose 4X burning speed - click on WRITE (now sit back and relax until it's successfully completed) You probably can backup via Nero Express, just choose the "Copy a DVD" tab and go from there. I've done nearly 50% of backing up PS2 games using Nero Express this way, and so far it has never let me down.
I have the PC version. I don't want to burn it. I'm not burning a game. I've installed it now. Just couldn't have InCD installed while I was doing it. That's all. I just wanted to know if anyone knew why, if this was a problem with this new InCD program as the old version 4 never had this problem. That's all. And then I was asking if there was any other popular packet writing programs out there.
You can try the latest from Nero 7 Ultra/Premium. Some people has reported that they're having problem with Nero 7 Ultra, but I've used Nero 7 Premium since late October 2005, and so far I've never experienced any issues whatsoever. Everything works flawlessly for me (ie dvd burning, audio cd burning, encoding, transcoding, converting AVI to DVD, and playing DivX, AVI or DVD movies with Nero ShowTime). So are you still having audio issues? Do you have DirectX 9.0C on your system by a chance?
It all works fine if I install it while not having InCD installed. After installing GTA SA I can reinstall InCD and it still works. Just I guess it doesn't read that directory because the files don't register or something. Who knows.
Had the same problem, here's the solution i found: RUN>DXDIAG Go to the "sound" tab In the "directx features" box, slide the "hardware sound acceleration level" down to either "standard" or "basic" acceleration it worked for me, good luck
