Connection failed [Connection timed out]

Hi
I have just chipped my xbox and have bought a crossover cable connected it to the pc, installed flashsxp, trying to ftp to xbox, have used the correct ip addresses for both pc and xbox and all i keep getting is that the connection failed [connection timed out] !! I have read several online tutorials, am doing everything correct...can someone help please ?

do you have a boot disc that launchs a dashboard (the chip alone doesn't get you ftp access) depending on your chip, you may be able to flash the bios through http, but you NEED a boot disc to connect via FTP (then you transfer the dashboard to the harddrive)

i have a softmoded xbox and just wondering if i can ftp to it can someone help me

 

Thanks for the input, the problem was my pci card, it was in the wrong slot and was causing a conflict..
