archiving hdd files and all was fine then sony dru 710a did not burn cd or dvd. using nero oem 6 and win xp sp2. removed all software and reinstalled, including os onto new hdd. as well as replaced dvd rw with dru 810. still no go. have 400 watts psu. have used decrypter and dvd shrink with no problem before failures. nero now gets to 50% on burn and hangs. erases cdrws but not dvd. dma is enabled. both dvdrom and dvdrw on same 80 cable. was cable select and worked fine, tried master/slave also. no go. what to do?

Ok, here is the last history log. I attempted various fixex on my own as I have built computers and have a working knowledge of the hardware,(not an expert, just good). To correct this problem I disassembled the entire system and rebuilt it from the bottom up piece by piece. Win XP Home SP2 was clean installed as was everything onto a new HDD. Same problem of having Nero 6 lockup on burn process repeated itself. New DRU 810A also. Former was a DRU710A. Previous to problem all was fine for 9 months. No major changes were made to system at time of prblem that I can attribute to the problem. Attached is the history.
