I recently took my old Pioneer 105 burner out of my PC and made an external drive. IT worked perfect when in the computer but I have not burned one dick with it in the external enclosure. It seems like Nero loses communications with the drive and fails.

Here is my most recent log file. I tried Nero 7 and have now gone back to 6.

Go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=299 and get the latest firmware 1.10 to updates on your burner.

Your best bet is to customize the size to at least 4400MB with high quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "Advanced Azo" or "DataLifePlus" and Maxell (Hitachi Corp. - made in japan).

I've never heard of this kind of media and code before. Your best choice is to get some high quality for your next dvd burning project. See above reply for high quality media.

Again, either your burner doesn't like the media you're using or it can not read and write to the bad media. Possibly a cheap/bad dye -- see previous reply for high quality media. Remember to update your firmware as well.

Probably due to a bad/cheap dye or unknown reason, your burner can not write to the disc. Therefore, it's getting an error/failed burned.

    alkohol,

Thanks for the suggestions, however I cannot believe the media or the drive are the issue. I media is part of a 10,000 DVD shippment and I have already burned about 8,000 without a single coaster. I even used the same burner with a duplicator (duplicator with the same burner model and firmware). The only thing that has changed is I took the burner out of a PC and made an external enclosure.

Neither Nero or Roxio will finsih burning. They fail mid way through the burn. From what I can tell, I have the latest firware also.
