Appreciate the tip, I had written to Nero yesterday on this issue and I am waiting on their reply. All of the research I have done on Nero as DVD multisession burning have turned up "negative" results so I set out to look for an alternate software that can do the job successfully and came across this
    http://www.ashampoo.com/frontend/products/php/product.php?session_langid=2&idstring=0510

The developer said that their software will do multisession effectively so I will try it out, anyone here tried it? Also, can anyone here tell me if they use Nero for multisession DVD burning and if it works effectively?

I've used it for data backup (Nero 6.x). Only issue that comes up is that some players (the Hitachi on my laptop for one) won't read beyond the first session. If you're just using the DVD for backups and such, the burner you use will always read it. If you're on a LAN you can share that burner, so your other boxes have access to the entire DVD.

I am a little confused with the DVD multisession "Data only" burning issue, does this mean that you CANNOT burn video and music files in multisession?

Whether it's data, video, audio or music, it's still the same. Nero cannot do multisession for DVD.
I tried it in Nero 5 two years ago & later on I tried in Nero 6 & now I have about 10 DVDR with about 1Gb of data each & unusable again. Maybe I may try again with Nero 7

DVD multi session works fine for me using NERO.

Those "Bad" discs you have... use ISO Buster to veiw info on the discs.

    Voila...

Nero DOES do multi session DVDs, and I think, quite well.

To echo JXP2307, multisession DVD works fine for me also. You don't mention what (if any) error messages you get, what device you're trying to play the disks back on etc. which makes it sorta difficult to guess what the problem may be.
