hey i need a little help here...

My comp will turn on, and just keep restarting after that. I have a compaq presaraio 6000. I was told that this might be either the hard drive or the processor. So i was recommended to grab my hard drive and put it into another comp. and see if it still works. Well i attempted this and i keep getting the same message that the comp was shut down improperly and so on. I want to know if i'm missing anything with regards to getting the hard drive to work on another comp. Please Help...

your harddrive could be corrupt, i have a Quantum Fireball lct that had the same problem... i would suggest replacing the harddrive... i had to do it once.

    Hi Nena,
LoL :^) Easier said than done...
I am assuming you use WinXP?
If so, and this HD is formatted NTFS, it is a little more complicated.
Basically, you need to put it in another PC where a CDRom or DVDRom was attached, ie. as secondary master or as a slave.
You cannot place it as primary master (C:\ position) and expect that system to boot from your HD. Hell, even YOUR computer won't boot from it ;^)
If HD is recognised in other PC, you can then AntiVirus it and run Spyware/malware disinfection, hopefully curing it.
A failed HD will usually not be recognised in BIOS; if recognised in your BIOS probably software/OS issues, not failed HD.
Answer some questions and I can help you with next steps and more detailed proceedures...
    Regards
