My DVD Rom had disappeared a week ago from my Laptop..I'm not sure how. I couldn't find it in MY Computer, MY Device Manager or anywhere..I restarted my Laptop in Safe mode and found my DVD/CD Rom as listed but GREY. I then installed them so that when I restarted in Windows XP Home..it would recognize it and then I could re-install it. No luck...My Lap is still not recognizing it. I also saw my DVD with a different name or extra name in safe mode and I installed that too and still no luck...It is connected and still has power because I can still eject it manually...but that is all. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You might try going into your device manager and try uninstalling it then rebooting ur PC. See if completly uninstalling it if might detect it then.

I don't see them in Device Manager. Plus I have found 2 Generic Storage Volumes in Grey that I have installed..yet neither of them are registering as my DVD-Rom....I still at a loss..any help would be great.
