8X DVD's

    I bought CDRW's on line. They are 8X and my matshida player/burner is a 4X. My understanding is that there are software patches that will allow the 4X's to emulate an 8X (without providing actual speed increase - but WILL allow the CDR's to be used). I looked through the FAQ's and if I looked in the right places, I haven't seen this addressed yet.

    Any help on where to go or how to get a firmware upgrade to be able to use these would be helpful.

    i'm confused, do you meann DVD's or CD's ?

    CD's, data and DVD's. Does it matter? Not being smart, is there a difference? Doesn't a matshida UJDA 760 do it all? In any case, the only thing I tried to burn on one was some pictures form my camera aqnd short clips from my camera.
