DVD Burning issues using DVD Cloner 3 software

I was able to burn 5 of 7 DVD movies using TDK DVD dual layer discs--got read error on the other 2. On 1 of the 5 successful burns--got message "unable to write to disk--retry?" I said yes and inserted a new blank DVD thinking OK---bad blank disk--is fine--and it worked.

I tried to burn 2 new movies using Memorex DVD dual layer disks. Software was able to read entire contents of both DVD's but got write error message on both of them ----tried 2 different disks for the first DVD copy attempt--then gave up on copying the second movie to a 3rd blank Memorex DVD.

One help file in the DVD Cloner software said with all the complexities of DVD burning that if I encountered problems, I might try using DVD Cloner 3 to copy to my hard drive, then use Nero burning rom to burn a blank DVD.

Is this the best idea? Seems to be so many inconsistencies when DVD Cloner 3 successfully burns and when it does not.

Are these normal issues involved in DVD burning? Any advice on how to be more successful when burning D9 discs?--Is very expensive to have an unsuccessful burn---$4 bucks a pop even when getting a write failure after just 1 minute--have to throw the whole disc out.

PS: I am using a Gateway notebook with a GCA-4080N burner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Thanks guys for the feedback. Thought problem might be with the software. Will have to read the reviews online before buying next cloning software.

What kind of success rate are you guys getting with your DVD burning software? Are most of the unsuccessful burns read or write errors? Any tricks to ensuring higher success rates such as using Nero Burning Rom for example??

    Take care,

    Scott

I am in the same boat as phantom69. I have 99.99% success with my burns. If I do get a screw up it is usually my fault cause I selected something improperly (like directors comments, I hate that).

    The burns go great though.

I have probably 600 burns since my last coaster.

In total agreement with the “use good media” theory.

I have had a lot of coasters until switching to verbatims and have only had 1 coaster, that wasn’t my fault, out of the last 1000, or so, burns.
Have only burned about 30 DL discs (also Verbatims) and haven’t had a bad one yet..

I had a problem with DVD Cloner 3 as well. First I tried burning a new movie released in early Dec. 05, and at first the software wouldn't even recognize the DVD. So I unistalled all DVD burning software and tried again. This time the DVD was found, but I was getting an error message saying files are missing because of copyrighted material. I've been back and forth now with the suppport team at DVD Cloner and keep telling them that as a new softwaare, their product isn't holding to It's claims of being able to burn DVD's. I also tried burning a DVD from Disney for my children that we got in 2004, got the same error message.
After reading different forums, I saw that Slysoft.com offers 2 programs ( AnyDVD & CloneDVD2) for 21 day trial with 100% access to burning softwarre. The first time I tried it, I got the original DVD the DVD Cloner 3 couldn't burn to burn. I advised DVD Cloner 3 this and their response was that there's new encryption on copyrighted DVD's and they are working on new program to break codes.
