I'm trying to test the quality of my DVD-Rs with Nero CD-DVD Speed and when I put in a DVD-R, the "Start" button under the "Disc Quality" tab isn't pressable... I was able to check the quality of CD-Rs without a problem, but I just can't get it to work with DVD-Rs... any ideas?

What kind of burner/firmware do you have? Some Pioneer burners and some burner that's using USB is not compatible with Nero CD-DVD Speed. Try to uninstall Nero (I recommend using Nero's General Clean Tool) and reinstall it back. Now try to see if you'll have a green light this time.

man, I tried uninstalling with Nero's General Clean Tool and reinstalling it, but the test button on the "Disc Quality" tab just won't pop out and be available to press... The other tests run fine, just the quality one doesn't.... Is it not supported by my burner? Can I get another program that does the same thing?

You can try "k-probe" or "dvdinfo pro", they're both free. However, I prefer Nero CD-DVD Speed.

Hmmmm... if I read it correctly, then that's not really a good quality disc afterall. Anything from 1 - 3 on PIF is consider high quality (outstanding), any 95 - 100 on Quality is good/outstanding.

Out of curiosity, what's the quality score of your scanned disc results?

I'm having the same exact problem - I can't get the "Start" for Nero CD-DVD in the Disk Quality tab.

I'm using a Plextor PX-716A with the latest 1.09 firmware upgrade and I'm using Nero 6.6 (latest v6 version). I just installed Nero so it is a fresh install. I also have all the latest drivers and I installed the v2.0.1.74 of the Nero wnaspi32.dll. Also, I believe I'm using the latest version of CD Speed (v4.10).

I'd very much prefer not to have to install another program to do something that I should already be able to do.

Of course I'd ask Nero customer support for help but Ahead's customer support is the WORST customer support I've EVER had to deal with in my life.

any further help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !
