i used 007 soft mod using an xbox memory card and also softmod installer deluxe, everything seemed fine no problems. i created an ms backup and also a mod backup as the tutorial states, like i siad everything was fine, i tried to reinstal the original ms dashboard as i did not appear on the new evox installed dash, and i reinstalled the exploit a couple \of times and eventually i am left with an xbox that when it fires up says "`xbox live is updating your system" after a few moments it then says "xbox live is not responding please try again later", and no matter what i do i can't get rid of it, as i am a student with no money i'll have to wait till i get another original xbox game with (live update) on it and then try it and see what happens, but i got a funny feeling its going to be the same...please help anyone! many thanks in advance
Ok if you backed up your epprom.bin file and your c: and e: drives you can use xboxhdm. Here is a link to a tut on using xboxhdm http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox2.shtml . If you did not back up your epprom and c: drive I have heard around here that you can use a mod chip. Good Luck.

You have to physcally take the hard drive out of your xbox and install it in your computer to use xboxhdm. It is a bit of a pain to take it out but the job will get done right.

Hi, I have the same problem using Splinter Cell exploit with SID2. I install backed up the MS files, install the softmod, intall Evox, patch MS 5960. I got a Failure which said, Batch Process Failed. The last item was:. Action: Rename. I restarted the xbox and I get xbox live not responding please try again later I tried to restore the MS files but I get the same message. I can ftp into the Xbox, so is it possible replace the back up MS files to get the xbox working again. Where can I download the original files. Thanks for helping
QMan123 so you have a evox dash? If you can ftp in to your xbox make a back up of your epprom. Copy the epprom on to your computer(verry important) slayers auto installer has a ms dash on it. Ihave not tried it but all the files seem to be the right ones. from that you should be able to rebuild your hard drive to fully working order using files from slayer, your epprom file and xboxhdm. hi philmccan, i got 2 questions dude hope u can help, 1) as i cannot ftp into my xbox and i know you said i can get the files from slayers auto installer, would it be possible to FTP into another (my mates)soft modded xbox and extract the eeprom and C/E folders in order to make a burnable ISO ? 2) when removing the standard 8gig hard drive from the xbox and connecting to the pc, can i get a seperate hard drive larger than 8 gig (120 g)and connect that to my pc instead of the standard hard drive ? If i did the above questions would it be okay for me to sort out my problem.........thanks dude in advance, pc is srill knackered but using laptop should be done in a couple of days
if u have roor code 16 its because ur msdash is bad or erased, u might still play original games disk but that will stop if u unplug the power cord for more than 5 hours. now if u cant play anything at all and u are using the original hard drive, u will have to do a hotswapp, and NO IT NOT THAT HARD, ull need xboxhdm 1.9 and the latest msdash, this is a tutorial http://xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-161.html. to get the msdah u need go here http://freakyhosting.be/ms-c.rar. this is all u need. copy the whole contents of ms-c to the c folder in xboxhdm.
Hey ub40, you will still need the epprom file from your xbox. Each xbox has its own indivdual epprom. Your motherboard has the same epprom as your hard drive. If you do not have the epprom the only thing left is to get a mod chip from what i have heard.
