Please help me... I am trying to burn a DVD...
My DVD-Decrypter cannot recognize/detect the medium I am using...
However, I think the problem has more to do with my recorder...
    I am using a [bold]SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM 348B[/bold]
In the list of capabilities, it says that this device:

    Can write DVD+R : No
    Can write DVD+RW : No
    Can write DVD-R : No
    Can write DVD-RW : No
    Can write DVD-RAM : No

I take it, this means that the [bold]SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM 348B[/bold] cannot write DVDs, correct? [bold]<-- 1st Question[/bold]
I just wanted to be sure on that...

[bold]Second :[/bold] If that is the problem, I guess I will have to buy a new burner/recorder. No problem. But since I read the DVD (using DVD-Decrypter) with the [bold]SAMSUNG CDRW/DVD SM 348B[/bold] as the source... once I replace the recorder/burner with a new one, will this affect my ability to burn the files already saved in my computer?
Will I have to use the Decrypter to read the DVD again, using this new recorder/burner?

[bold]Third :[/bold] Lastly, since I have to replace my recorder, what brand or type would you recommend? I need one that will write on DVD-R , DVD-RW , DVD+R, DVD+RW , etc..

    Thanks...

It sounds as if you just have a dvd rom and cd rw that is it will read both cd and dvd but only write cd. It would say dvd-rw if it were capable of writing a dvd.

Your files will be ok on your hard drive because you have decoded them by reading them so you are ok their.

I would suggest a pioneer 109-A like I have, dual format+ and - dual layer and up to 16 x. it has been great for me, it will read every thing and writes well too.

    Thank you for the advice.
I'm relieved to hear that the files will be okay to use later on...
And I will take you up on your suggestion of the pioneer 109-A...
    Thanks again...
