I recently started using Nero 7 to do some work on my wedding videos. I have a problem though. I can load the videos into the program but whenever I try to edit the videos by shortening the video, putting in breaks, adjusting the start point of the video, or input new chapters the program quits responding. I have tried several times and it always freezes up. I don't have the strongest machine but it isn't a wimpy one either. What can I do to be able to get this program to work? Maybe I should use a different program? I am open to suggestions if somebody knows of a different program that makes it easy to break up a video and edit the sequence of scenes and to put in new scenes from other videos. Thanks Chris
I've a similar issue. The program doesn't completely stop responding, but is so slow/choppy that it's useless even for simply setting the stop/start points. I do NOT have this problem with any other similar software on the same computer. I opened a ticket with nero, but have not heard back from them. This is on a Pentium IV, 256MB Ram, 250GB HDD, 64MB video ram. Ok, not a powerhorse, but like i said i have no problems with other software. I'd add ram, but for this machine it's so expensive that I don't want to unless I'm sure that will fix the problem. Any thoughts?
@nosolt What version of Nero are you using? Have you tried re-booting BEFORE using the program? What other programs do you have open at the time? Do you know how to check Task Manager to see what is using all your resources?
ivsynbetr, all i can say is stay away from pinnacle studio 10. that program is so full of bugs even lifelong users of it are mighty upset. for anyone considering the purchase of pinnacle studio 10, read their forums first! there are at least 20 complaints to 1 favorable opinion of the software! Nero also has some bugs. when i open nero vision, it says "unable to initialize disc recording subsystem. Please check your installation," which I have done. good luck
dolphin2: Sorry, latest version of 7 (from 12/22). I've tried rebooting, and open no other programs. I'll try shutting down all the crap that runs automatically just to be sure. Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
Hmmmm... I rebooted, stopped all ancillary processes to free up memory, and still have the same problem. Most perplexing is that the video is very jerky/sticky even for the smallest of .avi files. However, much larger .mpg files play fine in edit mode of Nero Vision.
@dolphin2 - Per your suggestion, I reinstalled all the codecs from microsoft and updated directx to latest version. Is there something else perhaps?
Hi, I had exact same problem. Only Nero Vison was affected. This was after I updated from 7.0.12 to 7.0.14. I solved this by browsing through start menu to "nero product setup", running that and selecting "repair product". Select restart computer immediately rather saying no and restarting later (not sure if this last bit helped but might reduce chances of sofwtare "errors" if you reboot immediately) Good luck... Colin
Go to the DivX web site and download the codec : http://www.divx.com/divx/play/?hp3playmoreinfo After installing it, try your AVI file and see if it plays better.
sleepycol, thanks for the info. I decided to tackle Ner Vision with this latest upgrade of Nero and the same problem. I repaired the installation as you noted and all works well. Thanks again.
