I have a pioneer DVR K-15 (fw1.11) and I read here that in order for a home unit to read dl burned disks you have to make sure your dl drive burns with this bit something. I searched for the guide but alas I couldnt find it partly because I dont remember the specific name used to discribe the format. Anyway the guide listed here had you go to a website and look for your drive and it said you must have this format or standard to do home dvd players format in dl mode. Im sure I dont have this function on my drive as at the time I checked the website, but what I was wondering is can a firmware upgrade add this function? Man I wish I could remember the terminology.
It's booktyping/bitsetting... Pioneer drives can do it if they are flashed with hacked "Buffalo 8.XX" firmware... Not sure if you can flash slim-type laptop drives, though... Check the forums at rpc1.org...
hi teflonmyk has you covered here, heres your drive new firmware... http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2071 not sure it it updates to booktypeing though? you may need to go to the makers website of the drive to find out about bitsetting / booktype for this drive also if there isnt a firmware to make it do it with any app used for burning, you can get software to booktype but your drive must be able to booktype still...
Thanks for the file link, the installation text window is in some kind of weird foreign language. Thanks for the help.
