    Hi,
    I'm concerned that I have some sort of virus or spyware on my system. Below is my hijackthis log - Could someone tell me if I'm infected with anything and what I should do to solve the problem?
    Thanks!

    Yep, you're infected.

    Fix with HjT (do a system scan only, mark these and press fix checked):

    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {E0E899AB-F487-11D5-8D29-0050BA6940E3} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemLoader] C:\WINDOWS\sysldr32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ControlPanel] C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd32.exe internat.dll,LoadKeyboardProfile
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [intell32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\intell32.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: msupdate - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\msupdate32.dll

    Then make you hidden and system files visible ->
    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

    Update ewido, don't scan yet.

    Download smitrem -> http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click counter/click.php?id=1
    Save in your desktop and doubleclick it. It will then create a new smitRem-folder on your desktop

    Boot in safe mode (press F8 while booting and select safe mode from appearing menu)

    Delete these, if found:

    C:\WINDOWS\==>sysldr32.exe<==
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\==>cmd32.exe<==
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\==>intell32.exe<==
    C:\==>winstall.exe<==
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\==>msupdate32.dll<==

    Open smitRem-folder and doubleclick
    RunThis.bat. Follow instructions.

    Scan with ewido (complete system scan). Let it remove what it finds and save report.

    Reboot, send ewido's report, a new Hjt-log and contents of C:\smitfiles.txt

    Looking quite good now :) I guess that you had unwanted desktop picture before? I mean that warnhp.html, which smitrem deleted, usually causes so called "desktop hijacking".

    Fix these two lines with HjT:

    O18 - Filter: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file)
    O18 - Filter: text/plain - (no CLSID) - (no file)

    Still having problems?

    Yeah, the 'spyware infected' picture was on the desktop before = thankfully not anymore! - Everything seems to be normal once again. Thank you for all your help, your suggestions and guidance were of much value :)

    After one day of normalcy, I'm having some problems on my desktop, yet I'm unsure if they are related to the earlier spyware problems. I wanted to change the background of my desktop, but when I right-clicked with the intention of opening the 'properties>display properties' this box came up:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v442/mel86/Image1.jpg

    Even when I use the control panel>display , the changes I make don't appear. Any Ideas? Is this related to the spyware problems?

    Yes, it's related to spyware problems. Let's do this:

    Download -> http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/ registry search tool and do a search with "warnhp.html". If antivirus alerts, let it run the script.

    Send the results of registry search.

    I downloaded the program, and the norton 'malicious script detection' appeared numerous times.

    Yes, but that's false alarm. That script is useful, not malicious :)

    First take a backup from registry:

    Run -> regedit -> ok. Then File -> Import. Give it some name and then Save(and remember where you saved it).

    Then save this text below by name fix.reg in Notepad and save it on Desktop (make sure that format you save in is "All Files")

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-57989841-413027322-725345543-1004\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components\0]
    "Source"="C:\\WINDOWS\\warnhp.html"

    Doubleclick, click Yes and ok. Reboot your computer. Did it help?

    I mean File-menu -> import :) And you're backing up your registry before editing it.

    I think I must be really slow hehe!
    When the import box opens, I'm supposed to select a file?

    eta: When I try to open the task manager, I get the error 'Task Manager has been disabled by your administrator' Is that related to this problem?

    I'm very sorry, I mean Export, not Import :)
    That task manager-problem might be related, send HjT-log after doing that registry fix thing.

    Desktop back to normal? Nothing special there.

    Fix these:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://as.starware.com/dp/search?x=wKX1ILEOi+Vh7AfA98Gm4Me69ZMbub...
    R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    Then send a startuplist: In HjT, open misc tools -> then mark those two boxes and press generate startuplist. And send it here.

    Uninstall via Add/remove programs:

    Starware (name can a bit different, eg. Starware Toolbar or Starware 2.3.3.0)

    Delete this folder:

    C:\Program Files\==>Starware<==

    Reboot and send new startuplist.
