Nero Startsmart (Ultra 6 edition) - Disconnects Internet

    Each time I start Nero Startsmart, my router loses it's internet connection causing the entire home network to be lost temporarily. It automatically resets in approximately 20 seconds but the further issue is that our Vonage phone lines are cut off so any phone calls in progress are terminated. Why would Nero Startsmart, with "Filter Check" enabled, and allowed by the firewall, cause the internet to lose it's connection? This occurs whether Nero is allowed OR denyed internet access.

    Does anyone else having information on this? I suppose I could be the only Nero user out of several zillion that has had this problem. If that is the case I will be posting a resolution/info on this problem once I have it solved. Thanks.

    @creaky

    Nero Scout is only in 7, this is Ultra 6 he is asking about.

    @skylar57

    Have you tried uninstalling and using the Nero Clean Tool, amd the reinstalling to see if this corrects the problem?

    It's more like your system has been hijacked by a hijacker. I've been using Nero 6 Ultra and now Nero 7, and I've never seen or experienced anything like that. Here's what you need to do, get Nero's General Clean Tool, run General Clean Tool to completely wipe out Nero from your system. Restart your computer, run it one more time to wipe out any Nero left over files, then restart your system again.

    I suggest you download the below applications/programs and install them on your computer. Restart your computer, then turn your computer to "safe mode/safe boot". Now run them one by one.

    http://www.reviewlocator.com/download-61/ ZoneAlarm Free
    http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm Sygate Personal Firewall (it's good for a free Firewall)

    Good luck!!

    That's a new one, Startsmart should have nothing to do with your Internet connection because you can run most Nero apps. without being online.

    Has this always occurred or has it just started happening?

    It sounds like there is a corrupted file problem somewhere and arniebear's suggestion sounds the best idea.

    Reinstall Nero and untick the 'Automatically check for updates' box in the Nero Product Center (I guess you could try that first, you never know) and make sure that you are running the final version of Nero 6 (6.6.0.18)

    There are no more updates to V6 so there is no value to having it ticked anyway.

    Apart from that I have no idea :(

    I had this Problem and fixed it there are two ways

    1. **easy way** Use the Free FireWall Zone Alarm and block Nero from any sort of Internet Access...

    2. **Better Way** Update the firmware in your modem or router
    after I updated the fireware in my linksys by going to linksys.com
    it fixed the error with out anything blocking nero....
